Maintenance Cleaning for Business Clients

Maintenance Cleaning Tips to Prevent the Spread of Viruses

Clean premises keep the work and home environment healthy and safe, and maintain a pleasant overall impression. To achieve this, maintenance cleaning should be carried out regularly, that is, cleaning surfaces at set intervals.

Companies generally hire a cleaning company to maintain offices and work premises and carry out the necessary cleaning services. At home, it is easy to manage this yourself.

What Should You Pay Attention To?

It should be taken into account that a large amount of dirt enters premises on people’s feet. A good dirt-trapping mat should therefore be placed at the entrance door to prevent dirt from being carried further into the rooms. Using mats extends the lifespan of floors, keeps them cleaner and reduces maintenance costs.

Important rules for cleaning are to move from upper surfaces to lower ones and from cleaner to dirtier areas, and to use dry methods first, followed by damp or wet methods.
With the latter methods, it is important to dry the surfaces afterwards so that no dirt or residue is left behind, which would otherwise require extra attention later or mean the whole job has to be done again.

Microfibre mops and cloths are most commonly used, and dry, slightly damp and damp cleaning methods are applied wherever possible. For removing dust and lighter dirt, it makes sense to use microfibre cloths dry or slightly damp.

Office cleaning achieves better results when using professional cleaning tools and products specifically developed for a particular surface. The downside of cleaning chemicals found in retail stores is that they tend to be too aggressive and can leave marks once dry.

Preventing the Spread of Viruses in Offices

Poor hygiene and dust are often the biggest causes of illness. Handwashing is important, but cleaning frequently touched areas and disinfecting surfaces when needed is just as important.

When maintaining office premises, it is important to remember that the right techniques and tools matter. Cleaning tools must be kept clean, otherwise dirt, viruses and bacteria are simply spread from one place to another, which can make the situation worse.
Dust and dirt must be removed carefully and frequently from surfaces. During periods when viruses are more common, it is important to clean frequently touched surfaces daily: door handles, handrails, door frames, toilet flush buttons, liquid soap dispensers, and so on.

Since viruses and bacteria can spread through incorrect cleaning techniques, it is very important to use a so-called four-colour cloth system. Each coloured cloth should be used for cleaning specific surfaces, for example: blue for general surfaces, yellow for the kitchen, green for the bathroom and red only for the toilet bowl. This is also why it is unhygienic and unhealthy to use the same cloth to clean, for example, a toilet bowl and then a kitchen table.

Do not forget to ventilate the rooms as well. Stay healthy!
